Fiona McNae, who played a pivotal role in shaping Space Doctors (today part of Human8) into a leading force in cultural and creative consultancy, expressed her confidence in the incoming leadership, stating, “It’s been a long-planned decision to step back when the time is right, and that moment is now with us. Founding and growing Space Doctors has been such a privilege and I leave full of joy and gratitude. Gareth and Cato will now take our work forward and I couldn’t leave our extraordinary team and our wonderful clients in more creative, caring & capable hands.”

Gareth Lewis, who will oversee day-to-day operations for Space Doctors and join Human8’s global leadership team, expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’ve been fortunate to have worked alongside Fiona for 15 years, during which time she has led the evolution of Space Doctors from a pioneering semiotics and cultural insight agency to an industry-leading strategic and multi-disciplinary creative and cultural consultancy. It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to take on the leadership of the next iteration of this brilliant company and there is nobody I would rather do it alongside than Cato.”

Cato Hunt, responsible for shaping the portfolio (semiotics, cultural insight & analytics, foresight & futures, and brand & creative strategy), culture and talent, added, “By focusing on our wonderful team & growing our expertise, we’ll continue to foster new ways of thinking that help our clients anticipate and respond to the increasingly complex challenges they face. Deep understanding of cultural change has always been the beating heart of Space Doctors, and I’m excited to carry this forward.”

Two other key figures in the Space Doctors leadership team will continue to lead in their regional roles. Maya Madhusoodan will remain the Managing Director for APAC, and Michael Thomas will continue to serve as the SVP for the US. Their leadership has been integral to building Space Doctors’ success in these regions, and as a globally connected team.

Fiona’s commitment to regenerative sustainability, seen in Space Doctors’ B Corp certification, has left an indelible mark. We bid Fiona a fond farewell, wishing her joy in her next endeavours. To Cato and Gareth stepping into leadership, your passion aligns seamlessly with Fiona’s, inspiring our client teams. We’re excited about the journey ahead under your guidance, carrying forward the spirit of positive change that Fiona has instilled in us all.” adds Camille Nicita, Global CEO at Human8.

What the future will bring for Fiona McNae is yet to emerge, but likely to be shaped by her commitment to and engagement in regenerative leadership. As Space Doctors bids farewell to Fiona McNae, the global team looks forward to an exciting & meaningful future under the leadership of Gareth Lewis and Cato Hunt.
